Fernbank is designed to care for the needs of those who wish to be in pleasant surroundings, with the assurance of high quality cuisine and the attendance of helpful and caring staff during the day and night.

A substantial extension was completed in the spring of 2017 and this has increased the number of rooms to 45. Facilities added at the same time include further lounges and additional patio with a herb garden, a hairdressing salon and enlarged dining area. Most rooms are en suite and all are decorated and furnished to a high standard. Every room has plasma TV, Wi Fi and a free private telephone. The home is proud of its cuisine produced with fresh ingredients from a modern kitchen. An internal court yard is an attractive venue for afternoon tea with home made cakes. Fernbank has gardens to the front and rear with fine herbaceous borders.

The care that is provided in our home is provided by trained experienced care assistants. Personal care is planned with the resident and families. We pride ourselves on promoting independence and individuality.

Family and friends are also welcome to stay for luncheon or afternoon tea in the private dining room. Adjacent to the dining room are the two lounges that are regularly used by the residents, creating a pleasant communal atmosphere.

Sadly my mother who is now 83 is not able to care for herself as well as she has in the past. I needed a home that was light, airy, warm with great food, lots going on, a fun place to be, beautifully clean and with lovely attentive staff! (A tall order I know) everything I would want for myself or anyone I suppose. Donna the manager in particular is so amazingly supportive and helpful. Fernbank not only ticks all the boxes but it is close to the town station and particularly the wonderful seaside, so its the perfect place. Sadly my mother only goes in for respite as she insists on staying at home but she really loves it there and I hope and pray she eventually stays permanently. Trust me, I really know what a good and bad place is and I truly cant find fault with them, I feel blessed to know she is safe and getting good food and care in a place even nicer than her own home.

Thank you all so much for the kindness and care you have given mum over the last 16 months.
