Residential care home manager – Rookwood

Rookwood Residential Home are looking to recruit a Residential Care Home Manager – Registered Nurse.

£35,000 – £40,000 per annum | 40 Hour Contract | Home specialising in Residential Care | Good CQC |

A Registered Nurse with experience working in a managerial or supervisory role in a care home setting is required to lead and develop a 25-bed care home. The home is fully CQC compliant offering residential care to people who are over 65 requiring support to live their lives as fully as possible. The home is situated in a beautiful setting close to Burgess Hill town Centre, and has a strong team already in place.

Position and reward for successful candidate:

• A permanent, full time contract of 40 hours per week
• Usual working hours will be weekday day shifts, with some flexibility required for quality monitoring purposes, on-call duties etc due to the seniority of the role
• A great annual salary of £35,000 – £40,000 (depending on experience)

As Care Home Manager, you will coordinate and oversee the day to day running of the home, ensuring a cost-effective and efficient service that doesn’t compromise on quality of care or life. You will deliver effective leadership and line management to the care and non-caring teams in addition to managing budgets and resources.

What the home requires in a Manager:

• An experienced, dynamic and motivated Registered Nurse/Manager with relevant qualifications in Health and Social Care.
• Ideally experience of working as CQC Registered Manager specialising in caring for the elderly and frail. Applicants with substantial experience working at Deputy Manager level may also be considered
• A strong leader, who is able to motivate, lead and support all members of the team
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of CQC essential standards and all legislation relevant to a care home
• Financially aware and able to manage and adhere to budgets

Activities Co-Ordinator – White Lodge

Overall Responsibility

To ensure that on a day-to-day basis the social and welfare needs of the clients are met. This is achieved by recognising them as an individual with unique requirements.

Specific Responsibilities

1. Co-ordinate the activity team to take into account their different skills and ensure responsibility for consistent group and one to one activity’s. Maintain a diary to evidence regularity of one to ones. Identify those residents at greater risk of social isolation and plan accordingly.

2. Develop, monitor and review all social activities in the home, and lead the activity team. Ensure that daily and weekly timetables are clearly displayed on each floor. Activities must be appropriate, inclusive and varied to include choices and celebrate significant events in the calendar. Ensure activities are diverse and reflect the wants of those receiving them.

3.To create, review and update social stimulation care plans on Nourish for all residents, ensuring comprehensive development to minimise risk of social isolation and loneliness. Care plans and activities to be structured to ensure that we recognise our residents are unique and that they require personalised consideration in order to optimise stimulation and general wellbeing. Each plan must be reviewed monthly or sooner if there is a change. To include transfer of information from ‘Who am I’ document. Undertake regular checks to ensure the same is achieved by all activity co-ordinators.

4. To create an activity folder to include relevant memorable paperwork and pictures and a photographic display of meaningful activity with comments and suggestions for each resident.

5. Ensure the development of individual social history plans with families and advocates etc. Liaise with families/next of kin to complete ‘Who am I’ section of care plan.

6. Ensure that activities do not discriminate between residents and are structured to consider equality and diversity and maintain privacy, dignity and respect.

7. Conduct a monthly audit of activities to include trends, success, areas for improvement and action taken. Activities must be monitored to ensure they are having a meaningful and beneficial effect on resident’s quality of life, with the aim to give people a purpose if that’s what they would like.

8. Ensure activity team are documenting all daily activity and adding significant comments. Reminding care staff of the same.

9. To monitor monthly budget and expenditure.

10. Maintain risk assessments for activities.

11. Co-ordinate a quarterly newsletter.

12.To ensure that resident memory boxes are maintained for the purpose of reminiscence, way finding and identification of bedrooms.

13. To hold monthly or bi monthly meetings with activities team to discuss issues, successes and future plans.

14. Procure all necessary equipment and resources for activities.

Other

Display resident/relative/third party testimonials.

Create notices, flowcharts and any other paperwork; ie. Prompt cards for residents in conjunction with care staff, admin and management.

Any other tasks that may be reasonably delegated by Head of care.
