Residential Care Home in Burgess Hill, West Sussex.
Rookwood Residential Care Home is an attractive period property situated in a quiet tree lined avenue close to Burgess Hill. Thanks to our fantastic location residents and their visitors have the benefit of being near a local town centre with shops, cafes, bus routes and other amenities.
The home has twenty-five rooms and each room is centrally heated and comfortably appointed with its own wash hand basin and most have the additional benefit of en suite facilities. All rooms have a large HD TV, private telephone and staff call-bell system. Several rooms have beautiful outlooks onto the garden with their own private door access.
Rookwood has a large beautifully maintained garden with sheltered patio areas for those who wish to enjoy afternoon tea outdoors during the summer and a pleasant sun lounge is available for residents to capture the glory of the garden in every season.
The dining room has personal table service and provides a quality of catering that is intended to satisfy even the most discerning palate. Meals are served in the dining room for all residents unless there is an individual desire to have bedroom service. A comfortable lounge adjoins the dining room and is regularly used by the residents creating a pleasant communal atmosphere.
Please do get in touch with one of the team to arrange a visit to see for yourself. You’ll aways be sure of a warm welcome and expert advice.
A Message from Our Home Manager
“Welcome to Rookwood. We pride ourselves on offering something truly unique within our local community: we are the only care setting in the area dedicated exclusively to residential care.
Rookwood is a beautiful, characterful house. With our original flooring, striking staircase, and a peaceful garden maintained proudly by both staff and residents, Rookwood looks and feels like a proper home. Since taking over as Registered Manager in 2023, my goal has been to preserve and nurture the unique magic of Rookwood.
We are a close-knit, 25-bed home, which allows us to maintain an incredibly warm, safe, and familiar atmosphere. Because of our size, our residents’ families get to know one another, frequently joining us for activities, outings, and parties.
While we are a purely residential home, should a resident’s needs change, our relationship with our sister nursing homes – combined with our shared electronic care and medication systems – means that a transition into nursing care is completely seamless and stress-free. We also benefit from a Group Clinical Lead, a visiting Care Home Matron, and a Nurse Lead for complex clinical decisions. Over my years here, I have fostered excellent relationships with our local multidisciplinary teams and community nurses, and we enjoy a weekly visit from our local GP to ensure prompt, effective care.
Location is everything, and Rookwood offers the best of both worlds. We are tucked away from the main road in a quiet, tranquil setting, yet we are located close to the main town with easy access to public transport. This allows several of our residents to enjoy visiting the local town independently, while making it incredibly convenient for loved ones to visit. We also ensure our residents remain an active, vital part of the wider community through regular charity fundraising, including supporting our local food bank.
The highest compliment we receive is that a vast number of our residents come to us via word-of-mouth recommendations, not just from past relatives, but from local community healthcare teams who trust us implicitly.
We invite you to come and experience Rookwood for yourself. Our doors are always open.”
