Blooming at Blatchington Manor
At our residential home in Seaford, Blatchington Manor, it’s been a busy spring time and as always, it’s been a time to start venturing out into the garden and celebrating Easter. Below is just a small sample of all the wonderful moments that having been taking place.
Butterfly Trail
Residents enjoyed a wonderful trip to the Middleton Butterfly Garden. The residents loved seeing their vibrant colours and it appeared to spark some reminiscences. People were recalling past experiences with nature from younger years – it was fantastic to see everyone bonding over memories whilst watching these gentle creatures land on each other.
Butterflies have been known to have a profoundly positive impact on dementia residents by stimulating their senses, triggering positive memories, and promoting emotional well-being. Watching butterflies fluttering around can be mesmerizing, and in turn provide a calming effect, reducing agitation and anxiety that are common symptoms with dementia.
Lambs and Music
We started the month with a visit from our friend at PetPals. The residents were delighted to meet two very young and fluffy baby lambs. It was truly a cuteness overload with the lambs sporting their very own baby nappies.
It’s been a busy month of musical visitors, with performances from some of our favourite singers and musicians.
Easter
We rounded off with our Easter Egg hunt, raffle and refreshments in the garden and the conservatory. We welcomed relatives in for the afternoon. Our residents, relatives (and Staff) thoroughly enjoyed the trail round the garden of the Easter Bunnies footprints and collecting the chocolate eggs on the way.
Coming Soon
We are getting busy planning our summer fete for this year. The theme will be Vintage Summer Fete. The confirmed date will be Friday 8th August 2025. Details are to follow.
