At South Coast Nursing Homes (SCNH), we believe that NHS support should benefit your family.
While many care home providers choose to keep NHS-Funded Nursing Care (FNC) payments as additional income, SCNH will always deduct the full FNC fee from your invoice. If your loved one is eligible, we pass 100% of that funding directly to you, ensuring the NHS contribution reduces your weekly expenses.
Understanding Different Care Homes Approaches to FNC
FNC is when the NHS pays for the nursing care component of nursing home fees. Because it is paid directly to the care provider by the NHS, many families are surprised to learn that deducting this fee from your bill is not mandatory.
This creates two very different approaches across the care sector:
- The SCNH Approach (Deducted): We reduce your quoted weekly fee by the FNC amount. The benefit stays with the resident and their family.
- The Alternative (Retained): Some care homes keep the FNC payment as an additional income stream on top of the fee you are already paying.
Our Advice: When touring any care home, always ask the manager: “Will the FNC payment be deducted from my quoted weekly fee?”
